We all face the same problems. Nobody knows how to handle globalisation, everybody knows that something needs to be done. But what?

At the moment the two biggest conventions on earth about that topic are taking place at the same time. One in Davos/Switzerland, and one in Caracas/Venezuela…

the former is the World Economic Forum, where the global economic leaders meet up with politicians to talk about how everybody can have profit from the world economy. It sees itself as

"an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

the latter is the World Social Forum and it defines itself as

"an open meeting place where social movements, networks, NGOs and other civil society organizations opposed to neo-liberalism and a world dominated by capital or by any form of imperialism come together to pursue their thinking, to debate ideas democratically, for formulate proposals, share their experiences freely and network for effective action. Since the first world encounter in 2001, it has taken the form of a permanent world process seeking and building alternatives to neo-liberal policies."

German Media Award 2006 for Bono

The full award broadcast is now available (klick “more”…), but I again have to be sorry that almost half of the broadcast is in german. But be sure…Bono speaks English!!!

Today the leadsinger of the irish rockband U2 received the German Media Award, a price initiated by “Media Control International”. Former recipients were Helmut Kohl, Helmut Thoma, Nelson Mandela, Francois Mitterrand and Boris Jelzin, Yitzhak Rabin, Yassir Arafat and Shimon Peres, the Queens Rania of Jordan and Silvia of Sveden, Bill Clinton, Gerhard Schröder, Rudolph W. Guiliani, Kofi Annan and Hillary Clinton. Now it is Bono. His fight for humanity and against the injust distribution of welth are the reason why he received this award. The laudatio was held by the former German Minister for External Affairs, Joschka Fischer. Both, he and Bono have held speeches at this event that moved me seriously. Subscribe against study fees in Germany

I study in Tübingen, in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg / Germany…

the government invented a study fee of 500€ for each semester a month ago…now some people created a web site where you can subscribe against it.When it reaches 1.000.000 votes the European Union must check this law and, maybe will forbid it…so, no matter where you are living, support us and fill in your e-mail adress and a city in Germany e.g. Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Heidelberg, Hamburg etc..
